Credo High School Piano I & II students, here is where you can help yourself develop your fundamentals so that you can play and create music that you love. Everyone enters the classroom with different musical backgrounds, so go ahead and work at your own pace / level, and click on the embedded links for video tutorials. Hope you enjoy your Piano Labs!
Piano Labs #1-7 SOFT PINK level: Know your Piano Basics of locating registers and note letters, and use 5-finger playing technique with correct articulation. Play full scales & major/minor chords & arpeggios in C Major, G Major, D Major, A Major & E Major. May play scales / chords one hand at a time but must use correct fingering.
Piano Labs #8-13 DARK ROSE level: Full scales and major/minor chords & arpeggios in all previous keys plus F Major & B Major, using both hands with correct fingering, on a steady beat. Also play I IV V progressions in the 7 keys listed one hand at a time and be able to create Major 7 chords, Dominant 7 chords, and understand what “slash chords” are.
Piano Labs #14-18 SEAGLASS GREEN level: Play all 12 Major Scales, Chords & Arpeggios and I IV V I progressions, using both hands on chords with a slow, steady beat.
Piano Labs #19-22 CARIBBEAN BLUE level: All 12 Major Scales with transition chords of Maj 7 to Dominant 7 and a bassline that moves into to the new key. Plus I IV V vi- progressions in all keys, root position chords on simple rhythms in 2/4, 3/4 & 4/4 . Major / Minor chord inversions (root, 1st & 2nd inversion) in F, C, G, D, A, E, B. May use one hand at a time for inversions.
Piano Labs #23-26 TANGERINE ORANGE level: All 12 Major Scales with transition chords w bassline & all Maj/Min chord inversions using both hands. All 12 Relative Minor scales (in natural minor). Minor 7 chords in all keys. Plus, i- iv- v- i- in all keys, using a variety of rhythms and percussive textures in 2/2, 2/4, 3/4/ 4/4 and 6/8, 9/8, 12/8 meters, in root position.
Piano Labs #27-29 SUN GOLD level: All 12 Major & Minor Scales using all three forms of minor, with transition chords. All Maj/Min chord inversions using both hands. Maj 7, Dom 7, and Minor 7 chords in all keys. Play any common Roman Numeral progression with rhythmic ideas in uneven meters 5/8, 7/8, 9/8, & using inversions for smooth chord voicing.
Piano Lab #30 [CREATE YOUR LEVEL & COLOR]: After completing the Gold Level, design a new piano agility challenge for yourself and for other students to try and achieve, and choose among the sparkling color options that Ms Bija has.
