BIJA VOICES: "See Upon Your Path"
is a benefit album involving the work of a multi-generational mix of choir singers and guest artists, to raise awareness and funds in support of adolescent girls’ education in areas of the world where it is needed most.
About the cause:
There are many barriers that girls face worldwide in accessing quality education, preventing them the opportunities for leading self-determined, empowered lives that contribute to a healthy world.
In 2013 Malala Yousefzai and her father created The Malala Fund that strives for 12 years of education for every girl worldwide. malala.org
And in 2015 Michelle Obama created a global initiative called “Let Girls Learn” that also addresses the issues:
“In many countries, girls face complex physical, cultural, and financial barriers in accessing education.
As a girl grows older the fight to get an education becomes even harder. Her family must be willing to pay school fees.
She may have a long, unsafe walk to school.
She may be forced to marry.
And she often lacks the support she needs to learn. Yet, we know that educating girls transforms lives, families, communities and entire countries.
Educated girls lead healthier and more productive lives. They gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to break the cycle of poverty and help strengthen their societies.
It’s time to Let Girls Learn.” - letgirlslearn.gov
And it’s time for a world where every girl has the opportunity to learn and lead. PLEASE consider DONATING to the Malala Fund at malala.org. This organization is highly effective & 100% reputable.
In the words of Toni Morrison:
“When you get these jobs that you have been so brilliantly trained for, just remember that your real job is that if you are free, you need to free somebody ELSE. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else.”
Below are tracks from this CD. Thank you for listening and supporting girls’ education in every way that you can.
